Overview

The Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) is the leading entry-level prehospital care qualification in the UK. Designed for those working or aspiring to work within ambulance services, event medical services, rescue organisations, close protection, community response schemes and other emergency care environments, the qualification develops the knowledge and practical skills required to assess, treat and manage patients in prehospital settings.

Duration: 5 day course for standard courses, 3 day for requals and 2 days for RPL

Entry Requirements

Standard Route

  • Learners must be at least 17 years old.
  • No previous healthcare qualification is required.
  • Learners must be physically capable of completing practical assessments.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Route

  • Learners must hold a recognised prehospital care or emergency responder qualification accepted by Qualsafe.
  • Documentary evidence of eligibility must be provided prior to enrolment.
  • Suitable qualifications include recognised FPOS, RTACC, CFR, Coastguard, RNLI, Mountain Rescue, Police, Armed Forces and equivalent responder qualifications.
